EduGradUP · Glossary
School ERP & AEO glossary
Crisp, citable definitions of the terms used across EduGradUP — covering SIS / ERP / LMS basics, country-specific compliance (DPDP, PDPA, UDISE+, NEB / SEE, BMEB / BEFAQ, MOE-SG), religious-school terms (Hifz, Madrasa, Gurukul) and answer-engine optimisation (AEO, GEO, llms.txt, JSON-LD).
24 terms. Each definition is a single answer-ready paragraph. JSON-LD DefinedTermSet is server-rendered for AI-engine ingestion.
- SIS (Student Information System)
- A SIS is the system of record for every student in a school — demographics, enrolment, attendance, grades, parents and discipline. EduGradUP's SIS is the foundation that all other modules (fees, exams, library, transport) read from.
- School ERP
- A school ERP unifies academics, operations and finance — admissions, attendance, gradebook, fees, payroll, library, hostel and transport — into a single platform with one database and one parent app.
- LMS (Learning Management System)
- An LMS delivers and assesses learning content (courses, quizzes, assignments). A school ERP manages operations; an LMS manages learning. EduGradUP integrates with Google Classroom and Microsoft Teams for Education for the LMS layer.
- DPDP Act 2023 (India)
- India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 governs consent-based processing of personal data, with special protections for children. EduGradUP's India deployment is DPDP-aligned with parent consent flows and DPO contact published.
- PDPA (Singapore)
- Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act governs collection, use and disclosure of personal data. EduGradUP's Singapore deployment runs in-country (SG residency) with PDPA-compliant data flows and a published DPO.
- DLT (TRAI DLT registration)
- DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) registration is mandatory for sending transactional/promotional SMS in India under TRAI rules. EduGradUP's MSG91 integration is DLT-registered so fee receipts and exam alerts are deliverable.
- UDISE+
- UDISE+ is India's Unified District Information System for Education — the central school census database. EduGradUP exports UDISE+ compliant student and teacher rosters in the official CSV template.
- SEE (Nepal)
- SEE (Secondary Education Examination) is Nepal's grade-10 board examination conducted by NEB. EduGradUP's Nepal templates pre-configure SEE registration fields, grading scales (A+ to NG) and result import.
- NEB (National Examinations Board, Nepal)
- NEB is Nepal's grade-11 and grade-12 examination board. EduGradUP supports NEB grade scales, subject codes and registration export for grade-11 (Class 11) and grade-12.
- BMEB (Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board)
- BMEB governs Aliya-stream madrasa education in Bangladesh — Ebtedayee, Dakhil, Alim, Fazil and Kamil. EduGradUP's Aliya template aligns subjects, grade scales and certificate formats with BMEB.
- BEFAQ (Befaqul Madarisil Arabia Bangladesh)
- BEFAQ is the largest Qawmi madrasa board in Bangladesh, covering Ibtedaiyya through Dawra-e-Hadith. EduGradUP's Qawmi template aligns subjects and the ordinal grading scale (Mumtaz / Jayyid Jiddan / Jayyid / Maqbool / Rasib) with BEFAQ.
- MOE (Singapore Ministry of Education)
- Singapore's Ministry of Education regulates schools and madrasahs. EduGradUP's Singapore deployment supports MOE academic terms, attendance reporting formats and SkillsFuture-aligned staff CPD tracking.
- Hifz / Hifz-ul-Quran
- Hifz is the memorisation of the Quran — 30 Para, 7 Manzil and 114 Surah. EduGradUP's Hifz tracker logs progress by Para/Manzil/Surah, schedules Sabaq/Sabqi/Manzil revision cycles and captures examiner sign-off with audio.
- Madrasa
- A madrasa is an Islamic educational institution. EduGradUP supports the four main streams — Qawmi (BEFAQ), Aliya (BMEB), independent / Befaqul Madarisil Arabia and Singapore Madrasah — with stream-specific subjects, grade scales and report-card formats.
- Gurukul
- A Gurukul is a traditional Indian residential education institution rooted in Vedic learning. EduGradUP's Gurukul mode adds Sanskrit name handling (Devanagari), Vedic subjects, residential / Brahmacharya tracking and Panchang-aligned calendar.
- IndexNow
- IndexNow is an open protocol for instantly notifying search engines (Bing, Yandex, others) of new or updated URLs without waiting for crawlers. EduGradUP submits every content change to IndexNow on publish.
- AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation)
- AEO is the practice of structuring content so AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot) can extract and cite it. Core tactics: server-rendered JSON-LD, single-sentence quick answers, named-author bylines and an llms.txt index.
- GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation)
- GEO is the broader discipline of optimising content for generative AI surfaces — covering AEO plus brand mentions, citation density, freshness signals and structured data hygiene.
- llms.txt
- llms.txt is a markdown index at /llms.txt that lists the canonical machine-readable URLs a site offers to large language models. EduGradUP publishes one at https://edugradup.com/llms.txt covering every major topical hub.
- JSON-LD
- JSON-LD is the W3C linked-data format used for schema.org markup. EduGradUP renders JSON-LD server-side (Organization, WebSite, SoftwareApplication, FAQPage, Article, HowTo, BreadcrumbList) so AI crawlers that don't run JavaScript can still parse it.
- schema.org
- schema.org is a shared vocabulary for structured data on the web, maintained by Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and Yandex. EduGradUP uses schema.org types (Organization, FAQPage, SoftwareApplication, Article, HowTo, BreadcrumbList, DefinedTermSet) across every page.
- hreflang
- hreflang is an HTML attribute (and sitemap element) declaring the language and region of alternate versions of a page. EduGradUP's sitemap carries xhtml:link hreflang siblings for English, Bengali, Nepali, Hindi, Tamil, Marathi and Arabic.
- Qawmi madrasa
- Qawmi madrasas are independently funded Bangladeshi Islamic seminaries operating under the BEFAQ board, with curriculum centred on Dars-e-Nizami. EduGradUP's Qawmi template configures subjects, grades and certificates accordingly.
- Aliya madrasa
- Aliya madrasas are government-recognised Bangladeshi Islamic schools under BMEB, running parallel academic and Islamic streams. EduGradUP's Aliya template covers Ebtedayee through Kamil with both streams on one student record.
